Randomly assigned ‘Living Rooms’ as a start point — design and present an interesting historical fact that will make us go “No wayyyy!!”

During WWI, living rooms were often repurposed as temporary storage spaces for the dead — earning them the eerie nickname “death rooms.” This unsettling detail sparked a question: how were housewives expected to host guests when their living rooms were filled with bodies?

Inspired by the wartime Women’s Home Journal, I imagined a surreal solution: a TV ad offering homemaking advice on how to style the dead. This darkly satirical campaign gives voice to the domestic pressure placed on women — even in the most unthinkable of circumstances.
