This project began with Oulipo operations — an intriguing set of constraints that uses mathematical rules such as add, subtract, divide etc...I chose Somewhere Over the Rainbow, a piano piece I played as a child, for my starting point. And whilst playing the piece again, I noticed how much my shoulders moved with the dynamics of the music.

That observation became my first translation: a musical score built entirely from shoulder movements. The next natural step was animation — capturing the sense of movement and rhythm. But the initial version lacked physical context, so based on feedback, I moved into Blender to bring in anatomical form.

Having never used 3D software before, this became a steep but rewarding learning curve — one that opened up a whole new world of experimentation that I am currently still exploring with this project!
