MOVE ‘N’ GROOVE PROCESS
Visual Identity | App Design Sound Design | Film

OutcomeProcess
This project began with the Situationist concept of the dérive — to “walk with intention.” Intrigued by this approach, I explored my local areas through intentional walks, experimenting with different ways of seeing (the intention) and ways of recording (the medium).

For my final dérive in Hyde Park, I chose rhythm as my lens and used film and audio as my mediums. I collected found sounds, video, and rhythmic patterns — observing how people’s movements could be translated into visual rhythm. This sparked the idea of building a beat from the sounds of the walk, and visualising the beat’s pattern through found footage: hence Hyde Park’s Groove was born.

Excited by the potential for infinite soundscapes, the project evolved into Move ‘n’ Groove — a concept for an app that could archive these rhythmic journeys, allowing users to contribute their own walks to a growing, global sound map.
