I interviewed 30 dyslexic individuals aged 12–46, where I understood their personal challenges with auditory processing. Inspired by WEEGEE’s use of glass distortion and research into oddities, I mimicked this technique on a Canon 60D, to create my own distortions but with text as the subject rather than portraits.

The title ‘Could You Repeat That?’ stems from my research into auditory processing - it is the most common phrase dyslexics use when they can’t process something quickly enough. I debossed the title to reflect how subtly embedded this experience is into our daily lives.

The open-spine with hardback covers embodies a sense of vulnerability masked by resilience. I experimented with concertina’s, maze books & more but I settled on the French-fold design as it forces the reader to slow down — mimicking the extra effort and time required for us to listen.
